As a follow-up to the Juve UPC litigation rankings last week, in which Dehns was one of only four UK patent attorney firms to appear in the rankings, Juve has published a follow-up article titled: “UK firms secure considerable slice of the UPC cake”.
In this article it said that Dehns had “prevailed with a technically broader focus in UPC cases. Thanks to its close ties to core clients, this patent attorney firm was one of the few UK firms to be present at the UPC from an early stage.”
Dehns’ partner Laura Ramsay is highlighted for her involvement in multiple UPC cases, the article noting that “Dehns is also co-counsel with Kather Augenstein and Hogan Lovells for Advanced Bionics in infringement and revocation actions against MED-EL over cochlear implants.”
As Juve commented: “Other Dehns partners showed that patent attorney firms can successfully conduct cases independently at the UPC without the involvement of law firms, such as for Carrier Corporation.” Dehns’ partner Robert Jackson appeared before the UPC and its Court of Appeal in 2024.
Robert Jackson, who is also Chair of CIPA’s UPC Committee, commented: “It’s been two years since Dehns implemented its UPC strategy, and the Juve rankings, and subsequent article, is high recognition of Dehns’ UPC capabilities and experience of acting on behalf of clients at the UPC. We are delighted at how Dehns is taking a leading position even after just 18 months since the launch of the UPC.”
