On Friday 21 June, Dehns will be attending an Oral Hearing in Paris at the Unified Patent Court (UPC) on behalf of longstanding client, Carrier Corporation. This is one of three live actions before the UPC that Dehns is currently handling.
The oral hearing is the last stage of the proceedings before the UPC’s Paris central division, and it will decide the outcome (subject to any potential appeal) of a revocation action brought against Carrier.
Dehns, represented in person by Partners Robert Jackson and Gregory Lees, will be presenting arguments to the multi-national, three-judge panel, which is composed of two experienced legal judges and one technical judge; during the one-day hearing, the Dehns team will be dealing with issues around patentability, sufficiency and added matter. It is expected that the outcome will be announced in due course.
Dehns has almost 80 attorneys authorised to act before the UPC, and is currently handling more cases at the UPC than any other UK IP law firm.
