We are delighted to announce that Dehns has been recognised in the UPC litigation category of the JUVE Patent UPC rankings 2025 – just one of four UK patent attorney firms to be recognised in this way.
JUVE Patent researches and highlights patent practices, patent attorneys and litigators who have a leading reputation in UPC litigation.
JUVE has recognised Dehns’ early involvement in multiple UPC cases. For example, a Dehns’ team consisting of Partners Robert Jackson and Greg Lees, and Associate Conor Wilman, successfully defended a revocation action for Carrier Corporation earlier this year.
Dehns Partner Laura Ramsay, working with Dehns Associate Jack Hancock, is acting for Advanced Bionics as co-counsel with other international law firms in UPC revocation and infringement actions relating to cochlear implants. Laura had already gained experience of UPC strategy when Ocado moved their global patent litigation to the UPC in 2023.
JUVE’s independent analysis highlights Dehns’ specific expertise in the technology areas of medical devices and mechanics.
The report comments that “Dehns partners showed that patent attorney firms can successfully conduct cases independently at the UPC” (such as the Carrier example named above). Dehns has been identified as “one of the few patent attorney firms in Europe that used its many years of litigation experience at the EPO to build up an independent UPC practice, rather than limiting itself to the role of providing technical support to law firms.”
Dehns currently has 77 UPC representatives and several Dehns attorneys have already represented clients in UPC hearings at both first instance and before the court of appeal.
Finally, congratulations in particular to Laura Ramsay for being named as a “Recommended individual.” Juve commented that Laura is: “a tenacious and versatile advocate who builds a good rapport with the judges.”
